Lara Croft GO is a slow-paced puzzle game where Lara Croft doesn’t constantly run, jump, and shoot, but instead takes one step at a time, carefully considering each move. From the very beginning, the game feels very different from the familiar Tomb Raider series, but becomes more engaging as you play thanks to its combination of puzzles, exploration, and a characteristic adventurous atmosphere.

Introduce about Lara Croft GO
Lara Croft GO is a turn-based adventure-puzzle game with a very unique style, completely separate from the fast-paced action of the Tomb Raider series. In this game, Lara Croft doesn’t rush through traps at high speed or engage in continuous gunfights, but moves step by step on isometric maps, where every action needs to be calculated in advance. From the start, the game feels slow and calm, but it’s very captivating in its own way.
The amazing puzzles of Lara Croft GO do not need explication, unlike some other games. It starts off as extremely easy while drawing players into the various mechanics of this game. Every level is a puzzle where players have to see where enemies, traps, switches, and paths are located to solve the puzzle. There is no pressure in this game, and no need for quick reactions. It encourages slower thinking, and working with trial and error and learning from oneβs own moves.
Lara Croft GO is great because it feels relaxed but challenging. The further you go, the harder it gets, with puzzles that require more and more pieces to be combined at once.
Turn-based puzzle gameplay
The most noticeable aspect of playing Lara Croft GO is its very slow pace. There’s no countdown timer. No one is constantly chasing you. Lara only moves when you tap, and each move is a clear step. It sounds simple, but after playing for a while, I realized that this slow pace actually creates pressure in a different way. You can’t blame poor reflexes, because the game gives you enough time to think.
In reality, many levels I failed at weren’t because they were too difficult, but because I rushed. I’d step on an open path, be overconfident when I saw an enemy far away. But just one wrong step and the game is ruined. This feeling arises because every element on the screen is interconnected: traps, switches, enemies, terrain. There are no unnecessary details. In later levels, the game starts forcing you to think a few steps further ahead.
Level design like small puzzles
One thing I really like about Lara Croft GO is the way the game designs the levels. Each level isn’t too big. Usually, it’s just enough space to see everything on the screen. But don’t let that fool you. After playing for a while, you’ll see that each level is like a very carefully arranged puzzle.
Some levels look very straightforward at first glance. Few enemies, few traps. But just one wrong move in the wrong order can lead you into a dead end. Other levels look very complicated, with many overlapping elements, but if you observe calmly, the solution is quite simple. This feeling arises because the game doesn’t use hidden clues to trick you. Everything is laid out before you.
In later levels, the elements start to intertwine more. Enemies move in turns. Traps activate in a specific direction. Switches affect the entire map. At that point, each level is like a small logic maze. Solving it doesn’t give you a feeling of great victory, but rather a feeling of “ah, so that’s how it is.” Very subtle, but very satisfying.
Collectible items and hidden paths
After playing Lara Croft GO for a while, I started noticing things that seemed minor: collectible items, optional paths, sections that looked like “just to complete the level.” Initially, I ignored many of them, as the goal was simply to solve the puzzle and move on. But later, curiosity arose. Why did the game place an item in such a difficult-to-reach place? Why are there sections of path that seem unnecessary?
In reality, these minor details made me think more than the main solution. There were levels I already knew how to complete, but I went back to the beginning just to try and gather enough items. And then, the problem completely changed. The optimal path I initially chose was no longer usable. I had to start over, recalculating every step, every move. This feeling arose because the game doesn’t force you to be perfect, but subtly encourages you to challenge yourself.
Adventure atmosphere and minimalist aesthetics
Another point that made me play Lara Croft GO for quite a long time without getting tired is the visuals and atmosphere. The game uses an isometric perspective, muted colors, and a minimalist design. Not many unnecessary details. No dazzling effects. In fact, when playing, I could play many levels continuously without my eyes feeling too comfortable.
The sound is also like that. The background music is light, with few climaxes, as if always keeping you focused enough. Not rushing, not pushing emotions too strongly. This feeling arises because the game doesn’t want you to be distracted. It wants you to look at the level, think, and then act.
In later stages, the quietness has to remain a presence which is very important. It keeps you grounded and enables you to try again calmly without getting carried away with failure.
