Some days I just focus on gathering resources to unlock another corner of the map, even though I don’t know what’s there. What I find different from many other farming games is that Westward Farm has quests tied to the family story. After playing for a while, I started taking on quests like helping this person, finding items for that person, and then unlocking small story segments.
In reality, when playing, I didn’t read every line of dialogue, but I still felt like I was helping my whole family rebuild their lives in the new land. This feeling arises because the tasks aren’t just about “planting 10 trees” or “harvesting 5 products,” but are often linked to someone in the game, giving me a greater sense of purpose.
For me, the storyline isn’t overly deep, but it’s enough to make me feel like I’m participating in a journey, not just minding a soulless farm. It makes me curious to see what other challenges this family will face in later levels.
Collecting, crafting, and using resources
I collected wood, stone, and agricultural products during gaming, then used them mainly for creating or building items. I simply did as I was told. But after playing for a bit, I started paying attention to what to keep and what to use first. At times I ran out of wood required to build a warehouse and had to go back to chop some more trees. At times a little repetitious, it also left me thinking that game resources arenβt easily available all the time.
I develop the hierarchy in the game, which is why I feel in control and powerful. I can focus on scheduling one thing first then another based on my play style. With elements of gathering and crafting, the game features some strategy that can be noticed. Itβs not too complicated, but more than enough to give me some thought instead of just following what to do.
