Sands of Salzaar is a fantasy action role-playing strategy game developed by Han-Squirrel, an independent studio based in China. The game is published by X.D. Recruiting Units
In Sands of Salzaar, you don’t fight alone. Along your journey, you may encounter combat-capable NPCs who can be recruited into your team. Recruited units will automatically fight alongside you, attacking your target. However, you will have to spend Utar, the in-game currency, as a recruitment fee. Stronger units will have significantly higher recruitment costs. Additionally, you will need to use resources to upgrade your units to increase their power.
There are two mechanisms you need to be aware of before deciding to recruit a unit. First is the unit limit. Depending on your progress, your team can only have a limited number of units. You will not be able to recruit more units once this limit is reached. Second is the experience sharing mechanism. Units will receive equal experience regardless of their contribution to the battle. Therefore, if you have enough resources and Utar to recruit strong units, reduce the number of weak units so that the entire army can level up faster.
Side quests in Sands of Salzaar
Besides the main quest line, you can accept side quests to gather additional resources, experience, and favor points with quest-giving NPCs. Accepting and completing side quests is crucial, providing you with resources to develop your army before facing powerful enemies in the main story quests. However, while side quests aren’t particularly difficult, most have time limits. Failure to complete them will reduce your favor with quest-givers, leading to various negative consequences.
