Drag racing gameplay
NHRA Legends of Drag Racing features gameplay that is much simpler than traditional racing games. The game focuses on drag racing – short distance races on a straight track. Since the track is only a straight line, you don’t need to steer or navigate corners; instead, you only need to focus on controlling your speed and shifting gears at the right moment.
In each race, you will compete directly in a 1v1 match against another driver. The racer who crosses the finish line first will be the winner.
Starting mechanism in NHRA Legends of Drag Racing
When your car is at the starting line, you need to pull down the throttle pedal in the center of the screen to begin revving the engine. On the left side of the screen, there is a Tachometer that displays the engine’s RPM. On the Tachometer, there is a small area called the “Shift” zone. As you hold the throttle pedal, the RPM needle will start moving upward. The harder you press the throttle, the faster the needle rises. After that, release the throttle pedal to launch the car forward.
NHRA Legends of Drag Racing also features a special mechanic called “Perfect Start”. If executed successfully, your car will launch at a very high speed, giving you a major advantage over your opponent right from the beginning of the race. To trigger a Perfect Start, you must release the throttle pedal so that the RPM needle lands exactly within the “Shift” zone at the exact moment the starting light turns green.
In addition, the Tachometer also contains a red area known as the “redline”. If the car launches while the RPM needle is within this zone, the vehicle’s starting speed will be very slow. Not only that, but repeatedly launching at the redline will also reduce the durability of the car.

Similar to the launch phase, if you shift gears while the needle is in the “redline” zone, the car’s acceleration capability will be significantly reduced. In addition, this action will also negatively affect the durability of the vehicle during the race.
Upgrade your car
Every time you complete a race in NHRA Legends of Drag Racing, you will have a chance to receive part fragments, or more rarely, car fragments. Once you collect the required amount, you can upgrade individual parts to improve a specific stat of your vehicle.
In addition, if you gather enough car fragments, you will be able to upgrade your entire car. Doing so increases all of the vehicle’s stats simultaneously, providing better overall performance in future races.

The four stats in NHRA Legends of Drag Racing are as follows:
Power: This stat determines a car’s top speed and improves its acceleration. More Power means better optimal times. However, if Power is too high while Endurance is low, the car’s durability will decrease rapidly after each race. In addition, high Power combined with low Handling will make the vehicle harder to control.
Torque: This stat determines the engine’s strength at the moment the car launches. More Torque means faster starts. However, if Torque is high while Handling is low, achieving a Perfect Start will become much more difficult.
Endurance: This stat makes the car easier to control during the launch phase. In addition, higher Endurance means the vehicle has better durability and can operate longer before requiring repairs.
Handling: This stat makes all driving-related actions easier to perform. Higher Handling also widens the Shift zone in Tachometer, making it easier to achieve a “Perfect Shift” during races.
