King of the Road is a 3D racing game developed and published by Black Code Studios for Android and iOS. King of the Road takes you through famous cities around the world, racing on busy highways.
King of the Road Gameplay
Unlike other games in the same genre, the races in King of the Road take place directly on the highway. Many different vehicles are on the track. You need to overtake them safely to gain experience. For each vehicle you overtake at close range, you will receive 20 experience points. Vehicles at a greater distance will give you 5 experience points.
If you collide with a vehicle or a roadside barrier, your vehicle will significantly slow down. Additionally, you will be penalized with a collision point, affecting your overall score. Therefore, besides driving fast, drive skillfully and carefully. If necessary, you can slow down to wait for an opportunity to overtake between the two vehicles in front of you.
Racing Modes in King of the Road
King of the Road has a total of 4 different racing modes to refresh your experience during gameplay. Each mode has different mechanics and objectives. Therefore, pay attention to the racing mode of the next level you will participate in. This way, you can devise a suitable racing strategy.
Countdown Mode
This is the most basic racing mode in King of the Road. The game will designate a finish point and a time limit, usually from 2 to 4 minutes depending on the race. Your task is to drive at high speed so that the car reaches the finish line before the time reaches zero. You can track the remaining time in the Time Box and the remaining distance before reaching the finish line in the Distance Box. Both are displayed in the upper right corner of the screen.
Checkpoint Mode
Checkpoint Mode is also a time-based racing mode similar to Countdown Mode. However, this mode divides the route into checkpoints. The game in Checkpoint Mode will have a short time limit. Your task is to pass each checkpoint before the time runs out. Each time you pass a checkpoint, your time limit will be extended slightly. Therefore, simply reaching one checkpoint within the time limit is not enough. You need to drive very fast to accumulate as much time as possible to pass all checkpoints.
The game will end if you do not reach the next checkpoint when the time runs out. King of the Road will calculate your score based on the number of checkpoints you have passed.
Race Mode
Unlike the two modes above, Race Mode has no time limit. In this mode, there will be rivals racing on your route. Your task is to drive as fast as possible to cross the finish line before them. King of the Road will give you a target in the rivals overtaken counter: how many rivals you must overtake. Each time you overtake a rival, the rivals overtaken counter increases by one. Conversely, if you let a rival overtake you, the rivals overtaken counter decreases by one.
In Race Mode, you don’t need to overtake all rivals to cross the finish line first. You only need to overtake the number of rivals required by the level and maintain that score until you cross the finish line. However, if your car is powerful and your skills are good, try to cross the finish line first to receive extra experience and bonus money.
Auto Velox Mode
This is a unique mode in King of the Road that few racing games have. In Auto Velox Mode, your task is to drive at the highest speed when you reach a velox (speed camera). There are several points on the track where veloxes are installed. Your car’s speed when passing through the veloxes will be recorded and added up. If the total speed across the veloxes is greater than or equal to the level’s requirement, you win.
