Every step he takes only pulls him further into the maze as the reality of his surroundings fades to the darkness, where what is real and what is not is ambiguous. What is scarier than this is that the school has not just old spirits as a haunting presence, it has a force that remains fixated on his movements; the crazy janitor, who endlessly looms around the school at night, always hunting anyone that appears without permission.
While on the run, Hui-min encounters a few other students who are also trapped in the school. Each one carries their own story, a piece of the tragedy that happened many years ago. Clues are gradually revealed that the school was once the site of many mysterious accidents, shady experiments, and hidden deaths.
Gameplay is a combination of many elements
In White Day The School, players are put into the true meaning of the survival genre. You enter the dark school with extremely limited luggage: a weak flashlight and a simple map that is only for orientation. With no weapons, no ability to defend yourself, you are forced to use your wits to deal with the countless lurking threats.
Every corridor is fraught with danger, from the ghosts that suddenly appear to the guards who patrol with heavy footsteps and violent eyes. Any small mistake can put you in a desperate situation. Throughout the journey, you must solve puzzles by carefully observing every detail in the school.
Familiar objects during the day become things that make you suspicious at night. You must rely on intuition, pay attention to sounds and learn to move carefully. The scary thing is that Yeondu School always creates mental traps that distract you. Mysterious forces take advantage of your emotions, give vague hints, and even deceive.
Warnings appear throughout, reminding you that everything around you can test your sanity. When the game constantly rings the message “Don’t trust”, you will understand that it is only precaution that helps you survive the night.
Meet the different characters
Although the number of characters is not much, White Day The School still creates a mysterious world through each person appearing in Yeondu school.
Han So-young is the girl that Hui-min has a crush on and is also the reason he sneaks into the school. Behind her calm appearance is a secret directly related to Yeondu’s tragedy. The scattered pieces will gradually show you the truth that she always tries to hide.
Kim Ji-hyeon brings a feeling of unease from the first meeting. She has a strange presence that makes it difficult for players to distinguish what is real and what is an illusion. Every time Ji-hyeon appears, it leaves a chill down the spine.
