The main goal is pretty straightforward since you just need to put together a deck of magic and hero cards to smash the enemy tower. Picking the wrong hero to summon at the wrong time could easily cost you the game.
A unique blend of genres
Trying to juggle real-time strategy with card draws and tower defense mechanics makes for a pretty busy screen. You have to manage your resources and predict enemy movements while positioning heroes to hold the line. When trying to counter an incoming wave, figuring out where to place a unit fast can be a little overwhelming for newcomers.
Because everything happens live, there isn’t much time to sit around and plan out your next three moves. You have to adapt on the fly to survive the constant push and pull of the battlefield. Anyone who prefers slow, turn-based thinking might find this rapid-fire genre mashup slightly stressful.
Mastering your deck
In Eight! Warriors, Eight! Warrior building a solid strategy means sorting through over 55 unique Hero and Magic cards to find combinations that actually work together. The competitive PvP Arena is the main event, but there are a few other ways to play if fighting real people gets exhausting. Boss Raids are an option for those who want to team up and figure out strategies for taking down massive enemies. Trying to coordinate a raid fight with others often requires a lot of patience if your team keeps wiping.
There is also a Dungeon Mode where endless waves of monsters just keep coming at you. It acts as a good place to farm resources and test out deck changes while fighting off a horde of creeps. Slugging through the exact same dungeon waves repeatedly might get a bit tedious after a while.
Heroes grow and evolve
Building up a roster means summoning characters, boosting their stats, and making sure their unique abilities are fully upgraded. A neat trick is that you can actually dismantle unwanted heroes to scrape together Rune Shards. While staring at the summoning screen, trading in those shards gives a chance to pull something new and potentially legendary.
Eight! Warriors fills me with delight for helping one of my favourite characters become a heavy hitting character by sinking resources into them! However, itβs a risk discarding your older heroes in the hopes you will get better pulls if the new summon is not so hot. This cycle of progress causes players to repeatedly switch nums until they discover a match.
Strategic depth in every battle
Actually winning fights relies heavily on managing the ‘Souls’ you collect during combat since they pay for your hero summons. When your tower is taking hits in a tight fight, waiting for enough Souls to drop a crucial defender is nerve-wracking. Mismanaging that economy early in a match can leave you completely defenseless later on.
Eight! Warriors takes sharp reflexes to predict where the enemy is going and place your units in the right spot to counter them. Just be prepared to lose a few towers while learning the hard way how all these interactions play out.
Starting your journey right
Anyone jumping in for the first time should really focus on throwing together a balanced deck to survive the early game. Mixing up attackers, defenders, and supporters keeps things flexible when an opponent throws a weird strategy your way. When getting crushed in a PvP match, looking back at a poorly balanced deck usually explains exactly what went wrong.
Before sweating it out in competitive matches, hitting up Dungeon Mode is a smart way to stock up on materials. Testing magic card combinations on AI enemies gives you a much better feel for the timing without any ranked pressure. Grasping all the base mechanics definitely involves a steep learning curve before Eight! Warriors starts feeling natural.
