Upgrading is a continuous task and accounts for almost all of Dog Hotel Tycoon’s gameplay. For each room you’ve built at your facility, you can continue upgrading them to earn more money from the dogs in that room. All rooms have three upgradeable attributes: Level, items, and time. These upgrades contribute to the room’s revenue in different ways. Note that the cost of each upgrade is not fixed, but increases exponentially.
Level of the room
The level is the index that determines the amount of money you receive after your dog completes a room’s activity cycle. It’s also the index with the most upgrades. Rooms in Dog Hotel Tycoon can be upgraded to hundreds of levels.
Number of Items
The next upgrade in each room is the number of items. When you upgrade, a new item is added to that room. For example, upgrading the Nap Room adds a bed; upgrading the Cafe adds a dispenser. More items also means more dogs can participate in the service in that room. Therefore, the amount of money you earn will increase. Note that each room can only have a maximum of 8 items. Once the room is full, you cannot upgrade further.
Activity Cycle
As mentioned above, the dogs participating in the service in each room will have a time bar; you will receive money when this bar is full. Upgrading will reduce the time it takes for the time bar to fill up, meaning you’ll get paid faster per dog.
Depending on the room type and service, the dog’s activity time in that room will vary. Similarly, the minimum time required for the final upgrade will also vary.
