Them Bombs is a puzzle game combined with group communication, developed by the Polish studio Yellow Dot. In the game, players will play the role of people trying to defuse a bomb before it explodes. Basic gameplay
Them Bombs is a game centered around the synergy of two different roles – the person defusing the bomb and the support team! This game does not require fast reflexes or precise skill based control. The draw will be around the ability to describe and communicate verbally. Each match is timed, and one small mistake can cause the whole team to fail.
The bomb defuser is the only one who can see the bomb interface on the screen. The defuser must describe everything they see on the bomb interface, including everything from number of wires, strange symbols, the color of the buttons, etc. Meanwhile, the support team reads the manual and figures out the disarming process based on the information just provided. Each module is a small puzzle, requiring both sides to constantly exchange to handle the situation.
For example, if the defuser sees a button that says “Detonate”, the support team has to ask back details such as the color of the button, the number of batteries, and whether the sticker appears or not. Every decision needs to be absolutely precise. The tension increases with each second, making each game always full of pressure and emotion.
Explore different modules
In Them Bombs, each bomb is made up of different modules, and each module is a unique challenge that requires coordination between team members. Each time you play, the order and type of modules can change, making each game a completely new experience.
The wire module is one of the most common parts. You can’t just cut the red or blue wire based on your intuition. How you handle it depends on many factors such as the number of wires, the order in which they appear, the specific color, and other random details on the bomb body such as the number of batteries or the brand name printed on it.
The maze module provides a challenge with spatial sense. The Expert has a maze map but cannot see where the player is. The player has no map but he does know where his marker is. To go in the right direction, they both have to talk carefully about every move they made with no room for any remote change from what was said.
The morse code module is significantly more challenging for a new player to respond. Bomb defusers will see flashing lights in groups of long and short. They need to carefully read the order of the lights, translate the code into letters, and refer to a table to find the radio frequency.

Participating in Them Bombs, the person playing the Expert will not see the bomb on the screen. Instead, they use an indispensable important tool – the bomb defusal guide. This is the “survival map” that helps the team overcome each dangerous situation in the game.
This handbook is provided as a PDF file, which you can print out or open on your computer or tablet as you like. The content inside is divided into many clear sections, corresponding to each module on the bomb. Each section is usually 1-2 pages long, with full diagrams, data tables, hypothetical situations and specific handling steps.
However, when the countdown continues, the pressure increases, and looking up becomes a real challenge. No matter how familiar you are with the modules, you still need the ability to process information quickly and communicate accurately with the bomb defuser.
