After Peter accidentally comes into contact with and removes the Symbiote because it causes him to lose control, the remaining specimen falls into the hands of Eddie Brock. Eddie, believing the Symbiote to be his father’s legacy and betrayed by Peter, becomes the rampaging monster Venom.
Throughout the game, players will control each character alternately, showcasing how each character approaches similar experiences in distinctly different ways. Another route in Peter’s story involves him being pursued by S.H.I.E.L.D., directed by Nick Fury, and being entangled in a conspiracy associated with the sponsor of the project, Bolivar Trask. Eventually, Peter has to battle Eddie/Venom to put a stop to the Symbiote disaster for good.

Venom is a massive creature that uses sheer strength, Symbiote tentacles, and can absorb the life force of enemies to maintain his health. Venom’s destruction causes significant damage to the environment, making Venom’s missions often involve intense chases and combat.

Ultimate Spider-Man opens up a vast, seamless, and freely explorable New York City, which is a big step up from previous Spider-Man titles. Players are given full control of Peter Parker to freely move around familiar areas such as Manhattan and Queens.
